Work in Process

More birds, but this time they will be two dimensional.
It feels good to be painting a picture on canvas again. This one was a sketch I did a couple of months back, and has been sitting patiently waiting to be turned into colour.Could it be symbolizing myself, surrounded by birds? Canvas is quite new to me, as I have always worked on watercolour paper. I feel it forces me to work bigger and doesn't let me get obsessive with tiny details, which I sometimes do.

Lots more work to do yet....

and........................ November Magic.

  1. Polly and I wait with interest to see your painting finished I often feel that I have lots of birds fluttering about my head all cheeping and chirping lots of different jobs that I have to do... do the hoovering, mark the essays, iron the shirts , etc etc

  2. This is going to be lovely! I used to always paint on board or canvas, using really big brushes but now I've gone the opposite way and use tiny watercolour brushes!x

  6. I am always fascinated to see how other artists work. Are those acrylic paints? I have never got to grips with them at all, they do produce wonderful results when you use them and such fabulous colour in your final pieces. I hope you carry on showing us the work in progress.

  9. Thanks for all of your kind comments.

Yes, the paints I'm using are acrylics. I have been using them mainly since I was about 12 years old! A long time! :) So they feel extremely comfortable to me. I do want to try some oils again sometime and I'm interested in these new water based oils ? Has any one heard anything about them?

  11. I love seeing your work in progress! I fancy birds as well so I especially love this!

I tried the waterbased oils when i first saw them and had no luck at with them, they were very gummy. They may have improved them since then though
