A little Of What I've been Up To

I wrote this last night as the rain fell. It was a very dark 31st October. We had pumpkins reflecting  their light out of the window down our puddle strewn path. Only two lots of children ventured out in the rain for trick or treating. The basket is still filled with shiny boiled sweets and chocolate eclair toffees. The fire was lit, candles flickered and the sweet smell of treacle tart hung about in the kitchen. Not home made I'm ashamed to say. Everything was a bit of a rush, so a thanks to Mr Kipling for the treacle tart and the Halloween french fancies. I hope you had a good one, however you celebrated it.
I've been busy with making stock for my Etsy shop which I'll show you in a bit...
Time has been zooming by and  half term seemed to arrive here just hours after school had returned from the summer!
I've been out and about quite a bit. My very bestest old friend from college days came to stay. :-) We had a lovely time catching up and wandered around Avebury  in the rain.
We breathed the salty misted sea air at Lyme Regis.

And met a lovely cat.
I bought a tiny egg in the fossil shop, that looks like a dragon or phoenix egg. It also looks as if it is made of moonlight. I will show you another day.
Talking of magical things, I saw amethyst in the hedgerow the other day.

And more magic....
This time at Warner Bros Leavesdon  Film Studios, to see the Harrry Potter studio tour.
It's a wonderful place to go for a Harry Potter fan. All the detail that has gone into everything is a joy to see. A lot of it made, because it was in the books but only glimpsed for seconds on screen in the films.
Below, the Leaky cauldron.
And the attention to detail that brought it even more to life.

We had a butter beer, brought home a chocolate frog and got a Dumbledore wizard card!

So, back to the here and now and my new creations. Which are all about to be listed in my Etsy shop.

                                                   ~Sleepy Woodland Pendants~
                                                                          ~Hearts ~
                                                                    A few hares...
And there is still lots to do, to get things in the shop in time for Christmas, so I'd best get on then.
Take care. x

  3. Lovely hanging pendants, I love how the all look when photographed together. Yep it rained here too, but we had hardy witches and goblins and the house cat (our Chi) was suitably eldritch.

Ours are quite hardy too I think, but to be fair we do live a little out of the way and our path is long and dark. :/

  6. If I were a bird, I would fly to your windowsill, watch you work and have a taste of the chocolate frog. And if I dream really large, I could come visit from my home across the Ocean and see all this for myself. What fun it would be to tour the Harry Potter exhibits. Your posts are always so magickal. Thank you.

  7. I didn't get to Bourne House to see your paintings due to the cracked bones/not driving, disappointed. Hope the exhibition got lots of visitors. The men made the pumpkins and did a great job - we had lots of visitors despite rain. I have heard about the fossils at Lyme Regis and hope to visit the shop next Spring on a family visit - can't wait to see your egg fossil. Betty

  9. We only got one lot of trick or treaters too (and that was my friend's children).

I really want to go on the Harry Potter tour, it looks magical, although it will probably have to be next year now.

I love your new pendants, especially the hearts.

  10. Hello from a local reader (North Wilts). Your artwork is beautiful, hopefully inspired by all the lovely countryside that surrounds us here.
I often visit Avebury, it's a very magical place.

  11. That all sounds just lovely. A cosy, quiet Halloween, and that's not a bad thing! And a catch up with an old college friend is always a grand and wonderful thing, and something I did myself these last couple of weeks!

Those two photos of the sea just make my heart beat so. Oh how I'd love to wander there!

Those pendants are the loveliest. xx

    1. Hello Ciara, Lovely to see you here.
There is something special going to visit the sea in Autumn when it's misty and quiet isn't there. You are lucky and get to see it all the time of course. :) x

  14. Your pictures are beautiful! Your cozy Halloween vignette, the wonderful scenery. I loved the picture of the kitty in front of the blue door, with the worn doorstep. When I came to those amazing amethyst colored berries, I had to stop and study the picture for some time. They look as though they are made of amethyst. Is the plant called amethyst? I don't think we have anything like that here in the Missouri, USA. I always enjoy seeing what wonderful art you are making!

    1. Hi Susie, Thanks for stopping by. :)
I just thought that the berries looked like amethyst, but the official name of the plant I believe is Lonicera Nitada Fertilis.

  15. Each time I visit here I find magic: not just Harry Potter magic (wonderful though it is) but real, deep, Earth magic. I love your sleeping foxes and hares-in-hearts; I love the wooden hare of yours that hangs on the door into our family den; and I love the sanctuary you have created here in this blog.
    Blessings!

    1. Thanks :) What a shame it was raining when you visited Avebury. Although when it's grey, it can be much more atmospheric to visit these type of places. Today here it is very grey and misty but no rain. A perfect day infact to visit the stones. :) x

  17. You are such a busy bee, it is hard to keep track of all your amazing creations. My son and his partner went to Lym Regis too, for a moment I thought you might have captured them in your photo!
