July

July has arrived and I haven't blogged. So here I am with a new painting.
                                                              Waking The Ghosts
It seems words have ran away again. They have hidden underneath moth wing and clover leaves. This time last year they did the same thing... I've been a hermit shut away in my workspace.  Four paintings on the go and a stack of wooden things to paint. Until they are ready here are some things I've been dreaming and humming to.

Jackie Morris lead me to the bewitching voice of Emily Portman and I was lucky a couple of weeks ago to hear her sing locally on a wonderful apple journey. A magical hour and a bit, well spent indeed.
Another lovely song  below is beckoning me to the sea again. And I will be journeying twice next month. One of which will be to my sister's wedding. 

This last week the days have been a little rain washed. By the evening though the sun comes out  and we've followed the itch in our feet to walk by the river. I captured some magic along the way.

On our way home we glimpsed  fox, heron, swan, duck, rabbit, wood pigeon and a white horse that secretly I think was a unicorn in hiding.

    Great music and wonderful, enchanting image.... I seem to have gone somewhat blog-mute myself these days, spirited away by the garden faeries.... soon I WILL post. Look forward to seeing more new work! July blessings from the forest.

    Magical photos and painting. I discovered Emily Portman via Jackie as well, and bought her CD...and I'm not even sure how I came across Martha Tilston, but I have "Lucy and the Wolves" too. Two marvelous singer/songwriters I would never have come across if it weren't for the treasures revealed in the blogs I follow!

    A very peaceful, ethereal painting. The photos are similar. It is a bit like having a little window at the breakfast table. Can I be like Alice and climb through?

    I visit your blog quietly now and again....enjoying the enchanted faery tale like quality of all your work. It reminds me of Jackie Morris's work, and here you have mentioned her! I live locally to her,and was fortunate in December to sit beside a fire, in a rather lovely old mansion, drinking tea gazing at the huge, original painting of this http://www.jackiemorris.co.uk/print6.htm
    above the fireplace. The following week, I went back for a Christmas bazaar and met Jackie briefly. She is lovely. :~)

    Dear Karen, your post is like a breeze in these monotonous, lazy, hot summer days and nights - even the prevailing blue colour makes me feel better!:) The white forest is enchanting and I imagine tiny bells ringing in the air... Thanks for the nice music - such good singers, it's a pleasure to listen to them! I wish you a lovely month of July (August is already promising to be remembered forever!)!:-)
