Woodland Spirits on Valentines day

Happy Valentine's day!
The sun has shone all day today and it has been beautiful. Spring has her foot in the door now and has enticed  more celandine, snowdrops and even a primrose and daffodil  to wake up.  It was definitely a day for going somewhere, I chose our local Abbey as I had heard there was a new outdoor sculpture collection on show.  It is called  'Inner Spirit' and is a collection of wire sculptures by the hugely talented  Derek Kinzett  I thought I'd share some of my hour amid the stunning woodland spirits with you.
The Abbey grounds are filled with snowdrops and crocus at this time of year, the perfect setting...

'Inner Spirit' is on until the 10th March so if you are in the area do go and see.
I left feeling refreshed and inspired and wanting to take the 'Last Unicorn' home with me. Well,  he would have made a perfect friend for my reindeer. ;)

  9. The flowers were a real pick me up since we are buried under two feet of snow from a blizzard last week. Loved the lone purple crocus in the sea of white snowdrops. The sculptures look so real. Loved the fairy holding the little fairy and who wouldn't want that unicorn to follow them home.

Spring is a ways off here I'm afraid. Two snow storms looming just next week.

  18. sunshine and spring flowers...just perfect :)
i think spring is coming slowly to my forest, i have found two crocus and plenty of snowdrops around our standing stone. but i have noticed the drift of colour in the woods of the silver birch and their new buds...and we had some sunshine yesterday, which always makes me smile :)

  19. I felt a tug of longing as I marveled at the transcendent forms - lovely...not to mention the spring blooms and (gasp) green grass. From where I stand ankle-high in greyish-brown slush, your images represent both memory and prophecy. In a word: "April." Mine is a literal place where snowdrops are still snow drops! Thanks for bringing me to your world for a bit.

  21. is this the same sculptor who had the fairies outside Milsom Place in Bath a year or so back? I like the work very much but think I prefer it when the rust has set in a bit. Might pop along!
