The Keeper Of Time

Wandering down to where the willow herb grows, in the early evening, would I catch a glimpse of my moth?
This is the direction it flew on that morning not so long ago. I've also read that they can be found wherever the plant flourishes.

I found a stripy tired snail.

There are more chrysalis in the green house. Small and black and protected by white woven web.I've no idea what type of moth they will be. They have a long sleep over winter until they transform.

I finished the little owl painting and have named it .........The Keeper Of Time

Some special moments captured this week .....

Now I'm off to the greenhouse to give it a much needed tidy up.
An excuse to get in the warm as its chilly inside today.

  1. How on earth did you capture that last shot?! It's wonderful!

I'm starting to prefer moths to butterflies - I've never really noticed them before so I'm always spotting something new; watched a burnet moth hatch from its chrysalis yesterday, and saw a Silver Y bumbling among the flowers the down.

    Happy moth watching!

  11. Hi Karen,
    Wow. Stunning images here!:)
Your owl looks wonderful and in the last photo you seem to have some light beings (fairies or angels) visiting you.:)

What a special moment with the light beams, cutting through the trees.
    Just magical!

Your photographs are, as ever, sublime.

Since reading your blog I have seen moths in a completely different light (excuse the pun!)-they really are beautiful.

  15. Thanks everyone for your comments :)

The rays of sunlight were actually invisible until the smoke from a small fire I had lit blew across in front of them! When the smoke died down they disappeared. Then everytime the smoke came back so did the rays of light.
Its amazing to think that there are things hidden from our eyes. Just because we can't see them, it doesn't mean that they are not there.

    Cottage garden...
I'm so glad you are looking at moths with new eyes. There are so many to discover.

  20. I like your little owl, the clock face looks very appropriate somehow, maybe because of the roundness.

  22. I have a definate soft spot for owls, we often hear them on an evening in the pine trees behind our house. Your owl is so precious! Love the photographs too, don't know what we did before digital photography! Used too much film and dodgy scanners, I suspect.

  24. I love your owl - they seem to be appearing in my life a lot this last week, two large one in a sanctuary at the weekend, a knitted one that my grandson wants me to make (the original is my daughters and she isn't willing to part with it!) and now your lovely painting.
